My name is Jac Blanc, and these are a couple of songs I wrote and co-produced with my friend Darryl de Lange. We decided to offer the whole album as a free download.

In July 2008, after my support band split up, I was offered a ‘development deal’ with a major record label.  They financed the recording of 10 new songs(demo's). This seemed like my dream-come-true. We recorded 2 songs as full productions, but the record company failed to see enough potential. With my dreams in flames, I thought I was lost.

I was planning on going overseas for a year, to travel, work and save-up for recording my second album. I was helping Darryl with studiowork for a while, and he returned the favour by recording another one of my songs in his off-time. I also had 'a song in the bag' from the first album ('Die Onbekende'). I wanted to release the 4 songs as free downloads on Facebook, but the number '4' was unlucky.

I got offered a relatively permanent, flexible job, with a construction company, and I soon realized that I might just be able to finance the album without the help of a record company. I tried to borrow money from friends and family to speed-up the recording process of the album, but I still needed to learn a few lessons in patience, before I could call my songs, an album.

So now, after a year, in and out of studio, the DarkLight is finally complete and ready for your listening. DarkLight is a very diverse album, stemming from the two opposite sides of my personality, very silly and very serious. But it’s all  honest & real, so hopefully you will find something you can relate to, and want to listen to again.
